Bloom in Birchfield – Assessment Day!

BIB col with strapline

On Friday 11th July the “It’s Your Neighbourhood” assessor will be visiting Birchfield to view the efforts of local residents in making the area a cleaner and greener place to live.

Birchfield Residents Action Group (BRAG) are leading on this campaign, called ‘Bloom in Birchfield’, with support from Birchfield Big Local and other local partners, such as Handsworth Helping Hands.

This is the first time that Birchfield has taken part in “In Bloom” and the focus is on the streets immediately around Livingstone Community Allotment including the busy shopping area on the corner of Wellington and Birchfield Roads.

The initiative was launched on 21st April at Livingstone Community Allotments and children were invited to create a logo for the campaign – the winning design is pictured here!

If you are around at about 2.30pm this Friday and you see us walking round the area give us a wave – and if you happen to see a crisp packet floating by on the breeze, please pick it up!

Bloom in Birchfield will be carrying on all Summer, so expect to see more flowers appearing in unlikely places and there will of course continue to be opportunities to get involved.

And don’t forget we meet every Wednesday morning 10am-12 on the allotment for our weekly session of allotment work, with tea and biscuits afterwards – all welcome!
