Every Wednesday between Jan 29th and March 26th we’ll be cooking and serving simply cooked food at Livingstone Road Allotments. You will find us in the Pavilion Building which is inside the allotment gates (just knock on the door and introduce yourself!).
Each week we cook a different dish featuring allotment grown produce (where possible given the time of year!). Everyone is welcome to come and join us between 12.30-2pm and for a small voluntary donation you can taste our latest creation. You will get a chance to chat and maybe you can give us some ideas for what to cook next week!
Last week cooked a fantastic Jerusalem Artichoke and Carrot Soup using some of our freshly dug Jerusalem Artichokes. We served it with some creme fraishe, parsley and french stick and butter and with our cafe style seating we transformed the hut into a friendly Lunch Club.
If any of this tickles your taste buds, why not come along, we’d like to meet you! We are also looking for volunteers to help with the allotment project, so if you want to find out more, you can chat to us about that too!
The Allotment Cooking project is funded by the Near Neighbours and we are gathering recipes that will go into a community cook book that we’ll distribute locally. We will be having a food celebration event when we launch the cook book – so watch this space for more details.
