The Pavillion will be open (come to the Livingstone Road entrance, near the ‘No Entry’ end of Havelock Rd, opposite Broadway Dance School, B20 3LL), there is ‘on-street’ parking on Livingstone Rd.
Inside we’ll have a display of veg grown on the allotments and well as a Heaviest Pumpkin competition and Most Unusual Vegetable competition – with Prizes (must be homegrown!). Bring your vegetables by 2.00pm on the day to enter.
You can see our crop of pumpkins in the barrow pictured above and we’ll be using some of them to make hot Pumpkin Soup – Caribbean style – which we’ll be serving with freshly baked bread rolls! We’ll also be offering tea, coffee, squash and homemade cake – but don’t be late in case it’s all gone!
For the children (of all ages, including adults!) we are going to be doing some free art and craft activities – making things inspired by being on the allotments. There will also be displays of artwork and photos of what we’ve been growing and doing this year and a chance to get involved in a community action day!
While you are visiting you can take a stroll and see the allotment site and come and visit our community plot, see where we grow our produce and run our sessions! We hope it will encourage more people to get involved so tell your friends or anyone you think may be interested.
Some of the volunteers and people we have been working with will be joining us on the day, along with plot holders from the allotments and friends and family, old and new. So drop in and see us, have a chat and enjoy a social gathering with hot food and things to see and do!
